What charities are looking for teenage volenteers?

Hey, im 14,15 in November, and looking for charities to volenteer to. I dont mind what doing or any amount of time. I have looked on the internet but they all seem to have a minimum age limit i dont fit it in to. Im from Cumbria but im looking for a more national charity,like Scope or something, but they too have an age limit. Any ideas? Thanks xWhat charities are looking for teenage volenteers?
There are several places for students of your age group that I could suggest:


1) If you have a local Kiwanis club, which is the world's largest community service organization devoted primarily to the needs of youngsters, you may want to work with them to help form a Builders Club if you are still in Middle School or a Key Club if you are in high school These are the world's largest community service groups for students in the different levels of school.





If you go to the USA FREEDOM CORPS- Make a Difference-Volunteer site..http://www.usafreedomcorps.gov/about_usa鈥?/a> you will find several organizations that use young volunteers.





One of these places, Youth Service America, is specifically for youngsters aged 8-15. You will find a place on the window, http://ysa.org/ where you can put in your zip code and any possible groups that take help will pop up.





You can raise money in some way for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, which holds its Annual Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon on Labor Day weekend, so you may be able to raise money in the next few weeks and end up on local TV if you raise enough in some way.

You may want to see if your local library has reading programs for younger children--preschool or kindergarten-where, maybe on the weekend, you could help read to the students. And, if they do not have a program, you may want to work with your local head librarian so you and possibly friends or fellow students could read to these students after school hours, or on week-ends.





Your best bet is working with a group where you can have adults working with you for two reasons--first, it will be good to learn from these role models. Second, when it comes to applying for a job, if these adults know who you are and can help you because they see how dedicated you are, you may have a better chance finding a job during high school, or getting a letter of recommendation that can help you with your college admission applications.

Nursing homes would gladly have you come in and read to the elderly or infirm. Check into that in your area.
try a local church or veterans association.
Scout organizations have programs set up to help young adults like yourself. Same with boys and girls clubs. There are also different wildlife volunteer places where you can volunteer all summer to help in the national parks. Check with your local school system they are always getting requests for volunteers. Good luck
